N.Y. Women’s Foundation celebrates its 25th anniversary

The New York Women’s Foundation, which has been empowering women for a quarter-century through its programs, hosted its 25th anniversary “Celebrating Women Breakfast” at the New York Marriott in Manhattan on May 10, 2012.

The organization which funds organizations and programs that move women, girls and families toward long-term economic security, honored Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and two other women at the event.

Secretary of State Clinton received the Century Award. The other awardees received “Celebrating Women Awards” from the foundation. They were Merble Reagon, executive director of the Women’s Center for Education and Career Advancement (and developer of the self-sufficiency calculator for women reentering the workforce) and Ai-jen Poo, director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance.

More than 2,300 guests attended the event including New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Manhattan Deputy Borough President Rosemonde Pierre-Louis and New York City Housing Authority Chairman Jon B. Rhea.
