When you win a free airline ticket from United Airlines or Emirates don’t just celebrate yet. Get down on your knees and start praying that one day you will actually see the ticket and be able to use it.
Last year, when I went to a reception hosted by United Airlines in downtown Manhattan, I only expected meeting people, chatting, and maybe eating some good food. So when my time to leave came, I was heading to the door when an agent working with United told me to wait and participate in the raffle. I hadn’t won anything in a long time so I decided to stay. When they called my name, I just couldn’t believe it. I later found out that I had a choice between an international flight and four national trips. I opted for the nationals and was given four certificates.
A few months later, super-excited, I call the company to try to use a ticket and was told that the certificates I actually won could only be used by travel agents, and everyone knows that I’m not a travel agent so I decided to contact the United Airlines’ executive who gave me those certificates.
He ended up arranging the trip but I wasn’t that lucky for the three other remaining tickets. While I thought he would always be there to approve my future trips, the executive decided to leave the company without telling me (how dare he?) and no one but him could save me. So, now I have three beautiful expired certificates that I can’t use and think about framing so one day I can tell the story to my grandchildren. Unfortunately, I’m not the only one in that situation. Another lucky gentleman living in Brooklyn won a free Emirates ticket and doesn’t seem to be traveling anytime soon either so whenever you win one of those tickets, don’t just celebrate yet. Quand vous gagnez un billet d’avion des compagnies ariennes United Airlines ou Emirats ne vous réjouissez pas de suite. Mettez-vous à genoux et commencez à prier qu’un jour vous verrez en fait le billet et que vous serez en mesure de l’utiliser.
L’année dernière, quand je suis allée à une réception organisée par United Airlines dans le centre-ville de Manhattan, je ne m’attendais vraiment à rien de particulier sinon de rencontrer des gens, bavarder, et peut-être manger quelque chose de bon. Quand mon heure a sonné, j’ai pris mon sac et me suis dirigée vers la porte quand un agent d’United Airlines me suggéra d’attendre et de participer à la tombola. Je n’avais rien gagné depuis bien longtemps alors je décide de rester. Quand ils ont appelé mon nom, je ne pouvais pas y croire. J’ai découvert plus tard que j’avais le choix entre un vol international et quatre voyages nationaux. Mon choix se porta sur les vols nationaux et quatre certificats me fut remis.
Quelques mois plus tard, super excitée, j’appelle la compagnie aérienne pour essayer d’utiliser un billet et quelle ne fut ma surprise quand l’agent m’explique qu’en fait les billets que j’avais gagnés ne pouvaient en fait être utilisés que par des agents de voyages, et tout le monde sait bien que je ne suis pas un agent de voyages alors je décide de contacter le cadre d’United Airlines qui m’avais donné ces certificats. Il a fini par arranger le voyage mais je n’étais pas aussi chanceuse pour les trois autres billets restants.
Alors que je pensais qu’il serait toujours là pour approuver mes futurs voyages, le cadre en question avait décidé de quitter la compagnie sans me le dire (comment ose-t-il ?) et personne à part lui ne pouvait me sauver. Alors, maintenant je me retrouve avec trois beaux certificats expirés que je ne peux pas utiliser et pense à encadrer pour un jour raconter l’histoire à mes petits-enfants. Et malheureusement, je ne suis pas la seule dans cette situation. Un autre chanceux gentilhomme qui habite à Brooklyn a récemment gagné un billet de la compagnie Emirats et ne semble pas voyager de sitôt alors si vous gagnez un de ces billets, rappelez-vous, ne célébrez pas de suite. Mettez-vous à genoux et commencez à prier.
