Citizens and supporters of South-Sudan, the youngest nation in Africa, celebrated its first anniversary on July 9, 2012 at Pera in the SoHo section of Manhattan.

Actor, model, and activist Ger Duany partnered with H.E. Francis George Nazario, South-Sudan’s ambassador to the United Nations to host the event.

Nazario greeted many guests, including fellow ambassadors who came to congratulate him and the new nation.

A small booklet about South Sudan and the countless opportunities in agribusiness, manufacturing and services, infrastructure and resources, was distributed at the reception.
