South African Consulate in New York celebrates Freedom Day

The South African Consulate in New York hosted a reception in celebration of Freedom Day on April 26, 2013 at the Marriott hotel in Manhattan.

Among the guests were newly appointed Ambassador Kingsley Mamabolo, Permanent Representative of South Africa to the United Nations and freedom fighters Father Michael Lapsley and Justice Albie Sachs.

The South African holiday, Freedom Day, commemorates the first post-apartheid elections held on April 27, 1994.
