Far from their families and friends back home, Senegalese migrants, many of whom still reside in New York City shelters, celebrated Eid-Al-Adha in Harlem on Monday, June 17, 2024.
The migrant community gathered early in the morning for special prayers, creating a heartfelt and spirited atmosphere. Following the prayers, they congregated in Morningside Park, where they grilled, chanted, and celebrated Allah and Serigne Touba, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
The celebration in Morningside Park provided a comforting reminder of home, highlighting the resilience and unity of the Senegalese diaspora in Harlem.
