Two weeks after the passing of poet and activist Maya Angelou, the black community is mourning the loss of another legend, actress Ruby Dee who died at 91 from natural causes on June 11, 2014, in her New Rochelle home.
Born Ruby Ann Wallace, Ruby Dee took, as her stage name, the middle name of blues singer Frankie Dee Brown who was her husband from 1941 to 1945.
Dee, who won numerous awards during her long career, was also a civil rights activist.
