Natal, Brazil (PANA) – Ghana’s head coach James Kwesi Appiah has said he is not under any additional pressure ahead of his team’s 2014 FIFA World Cup opener against the US today.

Appiah said as a coach, he is always under pressure to deliver anyway, because pressure is a major part of the job, hence the US match will not bring addition pressure.

“Coaching job is always about pressure and I am always under pressure. So there is nothing special about pressure ahead of the USA game. I am prepared and focused for the game,” he said.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Sunday, Appiah said Ghana was well prepared to make history at the competition and make the nation proud as well.

The coach was however evasive on his game plan, saying much would depend on the strength of his opponents.

“I cannot reveal my game plan now, because I decide on tactics based on the strength of the opponents. I may use counter attack and go all defending and all attacking but much depends on my opponents,” he said.

Ghana is in perhaps the toughest group at the tournament, as it is grouped with three-time champion Germany, Portugal and the US in the first stage.

Germany and Portugal meet in the group’s other match also on Monday.

Apart from Ghana, Algeria, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria are also flying the African flag in Brazil.
