Bamako, Mali (PANA) – A hospital complex, named after the late South African President, Nelson Mandela, and built at a cost of 80 million CFAF, was inaugurated on Sunday by Mali’s First Lady, Mrs Aminata Maïga Keita.

Located in Kanadjiguila (a district in far western Bamako), the complex was financed by the humanitarian child association on the initiative of a member of the Malian Diaspora in France, Modibo Pascal Lesage.

The Nelson Mandela center provides general medical services with external and prenatal consultations among others. The new center has a short-term observation or hospitalization room, a mini-laboratory to carry out basic tests and an ambulance. It also carries out routine vaccination activities and family planning.

The inauguration of the center coincided with the first anniversary of the death of President Mandela.
