The Rev. Al Sharpton is probably one of the rare persons who can host an event for VIPS on a presidential debate night – and have them all show up.
Music Mogul Sean (Diddy) Combs, director George Lucas and Coca-Cola Company Senior VP Ingrid Saunders Jones attended Sharpton’s event – the National Action Network’s 3rd Annual Awards — on Oct. 16, 2012, where they were honored for their positive impact in their respective field and in the community.
Combs was presented with the Triumph Award by Rev.Al Sharpton, who he affectionately calls “Paps.” Lucas received his Triumph Award from actor Samuel L. Jackson and Viacom/Nickelodeon Executive VP Marva Smalls gave a Triumph Awards to Ingrid Saunders Jones.
A performance by Vy Higginsen’s Gospel for Teens ended the awards ceremony, which lasted less than two hours and allowed guests to rush home to view the second Obama-Romney debate.
