Muslim leaders honored at Annual Iftar

On Wednesday, July 31st 2013, the Council on American Islamic Relations NY, along with Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and several other organizations hosted the 6th annual Iftar, at the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center in Washington Heights.

The event moderated by Ashleigh Zimmerman, the executive director of the Muslim Consultative Network, included a meal for Muslims to break their fast, and an award ceremony.

The honorees who were lauded for their continuing contributions to the City’s Muslim population, included community cornerstone, Imam Souleimane Konaté, the Imam of Masjid Aqsa; Dr. Sarah Sayeed, the Director of Community Partnerships at the Interfaith Center of New York, and Papa Dramé, the President of the Association of Senegalese in America.
