Palestinian-American Activist Linda Sarsour discussed her new book, “We Are Not Here to Be Bystanders,” with a foreword by Harry Belafonte, at The Gathering for Justice Radical Readz event held on March 5, 2020 at the Bethany Church in Brooklyn.

The chat was moderated by The Gathering for Justice President and CEO Carmen Perez. Sarsour and Perez were later joined by another activist, Tamika Mallory. The three met in the trenches fighting and advocating for the community and have since then formed a solid friendship. The three chaired the Women’s March held a day after the inauguration of the 45th president of the United States.

Linda Sarsour, who wanted to become an English teacher and make a difference in her community, fell into activism after 911 while helping women in her communities unable to locate their husbands who were taken away by the police.

A reception and book signing followed the fireside chat.
