Libya: Armed clashes displace 36,000 people in Tripoli

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – Some 7,240 families, representing about 36,200 people, have been displaced in Tripoli as a result of the month-long clashes between rival armed militias fighting for the control of Tripoli airport, the local council of the Libyan capital announced.

These displaced persons come from different districts of the city, namely Souk al-Khamis Amsihl, al-Sebaa, Sidi Sayeh, Tajoura, al-Garbouli, Ain Zara, Tripoli-centre, Janzour and Abu Slim, said Riadh al-Cherif, member of Tripoli’s crisis committee.

According to him, the committee is providing basic needs for the displaced persons.
