On July 18, 2020, Congressmember-elect Jamaal Bowman joined Eric Garner’s mother Gwenn Carr and Rev. Al Sharpton, at the National Action Network (NAN) headquarters in Harlem, to honor the life of Eric Garner, who was choked to death six years ago by New York City police officers on Staten Island.
The rally, also attended by Rev. Andre DeGraff and Korey Wise, one of the Exonerated Five, commemorated the sixth anniversary of Garner’s death and peacefully protested every victim of police brutality across the nation.
