Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) – The leaders of the recent coup d’Etat in Burkina Faso, have been charged to court and slammed with 11-count charge each.
The leaders are Gen. Gilbert Diendere and the former head of diplomacy in the ex-regime of Blaise Compaoré, Gen. Djibril Bassolé, according to judicial sources.
The charges include “Breach of national security; collusion with foreign forces to destabilize public safety; murder; assault and battery; and willful destruction of goods”.
Also charged to court are Léonce Koné, second vice-president of the Congress for Democracy and Progress (CDP, ex-presidential majority), and Mr. Hermann Yaméogo, president of the National Union for Democracy and Development (UNDD).
“Those who planned and executed the coup will soon appear in court,” said the sources Tuesday on the occasion of the ceremony marking the disarmament of the plotters in Ouagadougou.
