African business owner Atinuke Akinwunmi featured in photo exhibit celebrating the contribution of New York City’s immigrant business owners

Nigerian immigrant and owner of PurH20 Atinuke Akinwunmi is featured in a new photo exhibit at the Tenement Museum celebrating the legacy and contribution of New York City’s immigrant business owners.

Deputy Mayor Philip J. Thompson, NYC Department of Small Business Services Commission Gregg Bishop, and Commissioner of Immigrant Affairs Bitta Mostofi launched the exhibit titled: Immigrants Mean Business: An Enduring History of Entrepreneurship on June 8, 2019.

The free exhibition, which features archival images and photo portraits of 10 immigrant business owners by photographer Tesfa Alexander, is open through September 8, 2019 on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Tenement Museum, 103 Orchard Street, New York, NY 10002.

The countries represented include Nigeria, Ukraine, Bangladesh, Soviet Union, Kazakhstan, Dominican Republic, Korea and Venezuela.
