The 10th Annual NYC Multicultural Festival took place on June 1, 2019 on Saint Nicholas Avenue between 141st & 145th Street in Harlem.

The festival included vendors and several performers including Malian singer Tapani, afro-Columbian singer CHAE, the Jungle International Band, Uptown Dance Academy and New York Chinese Cultural Center.

The second part of the festival took place on June 8, 2019 at the Jackie Robinson Park on West 148th Street and Bradhurst Ave.

Nigerian-American Joyce Adewumi started the NYC Multicultural Festival in 2009 when Police Chief Philip Banks III reached out to her for ways to foster a better relationship between the police and the community.

“Art is what I know so I created this festival to celebrate each others’ culture,” Joyce Adewumi said. “Some people just see the police when something goes wrong but here the police are part of the festival, they are free to dance, eat and talk with the community. ”
