2015 AFCON: Ghana’s Christian Atsu wins “Man-of-the-tournament” award

Bata, Equatorial Guinea (PANA) – Ghanaian player Christian Atsu was adjudged the Man of the Competition, the prize for the best player of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea.

Cote d’Ivoire won the cup after beating Ghana 9-8 on penalties. Both teams had tied 0-0 at the end of regulation and extra time.

According to the CAF media outlet, it was double delight for Atsu, as his goal against Guinea at the semis was named the Nissan Goal of the Tournament.

Andre Ayew went away with the Pepsi Highest Scorer’s award, for the player to have scored the most goals at the tournament. Ayew scored thrice and provided the highest number of assists.

Ghana rookie forward Kwesi Appiah was also named the Samsung Fair Player of the tournament.
