Mayor Bloomberg kicked off the 38th annual Harlem Week with a reception at Gracie Mansion on July 19, 2012.

Harlem Week, which highlights Harlem’s assets and unique flavor, honored 30 years old newspaper Carib News, the late Sylvia Woods of Sylvia’s restaurant and Jackie Rowe Adams for her tireless commitment to antiviolence.

The event included a performance by the 2012 Tony Award winning cast of Porgy & Bess. Harlem week begins on July 28th until August 28th. For more information, visit harlemweek.com.
