In a turn of events, the long-awaited Constitutional Council finally, on March 6, 2024, set the date of March 31, 2024, for the presidential elections and rejected the proposals from Macky Sall’s national dialogue, pushing the elections to June 12.
As the Council’s decisions are final and above all institutions, Macky Sall, who struggled to choose a date and dissolved his government on the same day, is now compelled to organize the elections on the last day of March.
