USA/Mali Charitable Association of New York, a nonprofit organization promoting African culture in NYC, hosted its 9th annual cultural event on May 29, 2019 at P.S. 125 Ralph Bunche School in Harlem.

The cultural event included a mini-concert by Malian singer Awa Sangho and a live performance by the Ralph Bunche School’s African Dancers.

“The children love the program,” said Assetou Sy, a Malian-American who started USA/Mali Charitable Association of New York in 2007. “They enjoy African dance and are happy to learn French.”

“This after-school program widens their horizons and allows them to appreciate another culture and language,” said French teacher Sarah Jenkins.
