Ubuntu: Music and Arts of South Africa kick-off reception

Ubuntu: Music and Arts of South Africa, a month-long festival exploring the diverse culture of South Africa kicked off with a reception on October 10, 2014 at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan.
Dedicated to Mandela’s legacy, the Ubuntu Festival features musical performances, visual art, film, dance and panel discussions.
Grammy Award winning vocalist Angelique Kidjo will close the festival on November 5, 2014 with a tribute to Miriam Makeba also known as “Mama Africa”.
Ubuntu, which means “I’m because you are” is a philosophy that many South Africans live by.
