Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (PANA) – Two prominent Pan-African organisations, the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and the African Union Commission (AUC), have discussed ways to strengthen their cooperation.
Towards this end, Executive Secretary of ACBF Emmanuel Nnadozie and the Deputy Chairperson of the AUC Erastus Mwencha met at the latter’s office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to discuss ways to strengthen their cooperation, ACBF said in a statement.
Prof. Nnadozie came to the AU this week on a courtesy visit to Mwencha, during which they discussed a number of issues, including the specific support the ACBF gives to the AUC and the way forward in the cooperation between the two.
In his first ever meeting with AU officials since assuming office earlier this year, the ACBF executive secretary also highlighted the major works his organisation ACBF is undertaking in its mission to building capacity of the African continent through Regional Economic Communities (RECs).
Mwencha, for his part, said he expects stronger relations between the AUC and the ACBF.
He said the ACBF can specifically support the AU in areas of monitoring and evaluation, an area in which he said the AU has a significant gap, by improving coherence and complementarity.
To date, the ACBF has invested US$11.8 million to support the AU capacity building endeavours in various areas.
