Tigrayan children holding signs reading “My life matters” and “Kids need food not bombs” led a march for peace through Harlem from and to the State Office Building on June 13, 2021.

Asfaha Hadera, the founder of African Services Committee and John Jay College professor and Pan Africanist Milton Allimadi were among the speakers that addressed the audience before the march.

The event hosted by The Tigray Community in the Tri-State Area also included a run that started on Harlem Hill and ended at the State Office Building.

The Tigrayan community wanted, through the march/run held on National Children’s Day, to draw attention to the children facing rape and famine in the conflict opposing the Ethiopian government and Tigray region.
