The Permanent Mission of the African Union to the UN celebrates Africa Day in New York

The Permanent Mission of the African Union to the United Nations celebrated Africa Day under the theme: “Year of Nutrition” at the Permanent Mission of Libya in Manhattan on May 25, 2022.

H.E. Ambassador Fatima Kyari Mohammed, Permanent Observer of the African Union to the United Nations;  H.E. Taher M. T. Elsonni, Permanent Representative of Libya to the United Nations; H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, President of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly; H.E. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations; H.E. Mr. Collen Vixen Kelapile, President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC);  H.E. Mr. Cheikh Niang, Permanent Representative of Senegal, Chair of the African Union, and H.E. Mr. Sidi Mohamed Laghdaf, Permanent Representative of Mauritania addressed the audience during the celebration.

The five African regions from north to south and west to east showcased natural and transformed African products, giving guests a glimpse of Africa’s potential to feed itself and the rest of the world.
