The Malian Cultural Center wants to save the North of Mali

The Malian Cultural Center hosted an Iftar dinner under the theme “Save Timbuktu, Save Mali” on August 10, 2012 in Manhattan to raise awareness about the pillage and destruction perpetuated in the North of Mali by Muslim extremists.

Mel Brown, the center’s artistic director was the MC of the evening. He was then relieved by Imam Idrissa Touré and Mamadou Karambe who made a presentation on the importance of Timbuktu and its cultural heritage. A photo exhibition by Jameelah Malik was also displayed.

The Malian Cultural Center founded in 2010 by Mrs Assetou Sy, is a nonprofit organization located in the Bronx and dedicated to promoting and preserving the ancient cultural legacy of Mali.
