Khartoum, Sudan – Sudan said it had exported over 3 million sheep to Saudi Arabia, earning the African nation US$200 million, the semi-official Sudan media centre Tuesday quoted Sudanese Exporters Union chief Siddiq Haidoob as saying.

Sudan’s naturally-grazed sheep are much sought after in Saudi Arabia during the Muslim Pilgrim season.

Sudan said it is also expecting to increase its livestock export to Saudi Arabia by the end of the current fiscal year to some 5 million heads, a 25 percent increase compared to last year.
