South Africa: Zuma to address stand-off in Lesotho

Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) – South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma will travel to Maseru, the capital of Lesotho,  on Tuesday to try to end the impasse between political leaders after Prime Minister Tom Thabane accused renegade army general Tlali Kamoli of refusing to step down.

Kamoli is accused of being behind the  August 30 attempted coup which saw Thabane fleeing to South Africa.

As part of last week’s agreement brokered by the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), Pretoria has deployed South African police to protect Thabane and allies, but the situation in Maseru reportedly remains tense.
