Freetown, Sierra Leone (PANA) – Presidential guards stormed Saturday the residence of Vice President Sam Sumana and disarmed all his body guards.

Sumana who is said to have taken refugee at the nearby US embassy said he is alright but did not elaborate.

On Friday, former VP President Solomon Berewa and the Secretary General of the main opposition SLPP visited the VP to prevail on him to resign after the President Ernest Bai Koroma had indicated to them that he was no longer prepared to work with his vice.

Sumana was expelled a week ago from the ruling APC after an investigative committee found him guilty of anti-party activities, among other charges.
