The stakes were high for Senegalese New Yorkers who gathered in several locations in Harlem, including Patisserie Les Ambassades, the headquarters of the Senegalese Association of America, and Lenox Sapphire to cheer for the Senegalese team led by Sadio Mané.

After missing a penalty at the very beginning of the game, the lions fought tooth and nail the Egyptian team to win the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the very first win for Senegal, by a penalty shout-out.

Senegalese New Yorkers, overwhelmed by joy, flocked to the Senegalese Association of America headquarters on 116th, where they sang and danced for hours.
