Dakar, Senegal (PANA) – The National Assembly of Senegal ratified on Thursday a bill relating to the Memorandum of Understanding of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on the fight against corruption.

The protocol was adopted on December 21, 2001 by the 15 member countries of the sub-regional organization.

Explaining the reasons for the bill, Senegalese Minister of Foreign Affairs Mankeur Ndiaye stressed the “determination” of the government to fight corruption and the need for instituting national and international regulations to that effect.

In addition, Members of Parliament have authorized the President of Senegal to ratify the Protocol on the Privileges and Immunities of the International Seabed Authority (ISA), adopted in New York on March 27, 1998.
