The Schomburg center to host a free screening of Sembene!

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture will host on May 26, 2016, at 6:30 pm a free screening of Sembene!, a film told through the never-before-seen archival footage of colleague and biographer Samba Gadjigo.

Sembene! tells the story of the self-taught novelist and filmmaker Ousmane Sembene, who fought–against enormous odds–a 50-year battle to give Africans the power to tell their own stories.

A discussion with director Samba Gadjigo will follow the free screening
