Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita in Harlem – September 28, 2013

Newly elected president of Mali Ibrahim Boubacar Keita was in Harlem on September 28, 2013 to meet with the Malian diaspora.
A few days after swearing-in in front of many African heads of state, president Keita who was in the US for the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, came to the Adam Clayton Powell State office building escorted by new Ambassador of Mali to the United Nations, H.E. Sékou Kassé.
After a short meeting with Senator Perkins, Keita joined the Malian community on the third floor of the building. President Keita spoke with a lot of emotion about the overwhelming support he received during the elections with 77% of the vote, but also about unity within the diaspora and the challenges ahead especially in the North of the country.
