The on and off rain did not deter the masqueraders of the 52nd West Indian American Day Carnival Parade. More than 20 adult bands competed during the biggest celebration of Caribbean Heritage and Culture in New York, which took place on September 2, 2019 on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn.

 

The winners of this year’s carnival parade are:

Adult female character:

1st place: Tiggey Santana for Tidal Wave – Antoine International

2nd place: Ann Nelson for Big Wave – Antoine International

3rd place: Ashley Perry for Princess of the Gilstening Waters – Ramajay

 

Adult male character

1st place: Clarence Nurse for The Celestial Salt Water Dragon – Ramajay Mas

2nd place: Dennis Frank for Keeper of the Floral Life – Ramajay Mas

3rd place: Joe Rice for Overload of the Mystical Enchanter – Ramajay Mas

 

Small adult band of the year:

1st place: Boom Mas for the Greatest Show on Earth

2nd place: Tropical Fete for “Hello World: we are One Family”

3rd place: D’Midas International New York Inc. for Out of Africa

 

Medium adult band of the year:

1st place: Freaks Mas for Monday 2019

2nd place: 1199 SEIU Social Cultural Committee for 4 Seasons

3rd place: Dingolay Mas Citrus

 

Large adult band of the year:

1st place: Ramajay Mas for Silver Screen

2nd place: Stronjeh International for Regalia

3rd place: Antoine International for Untamed
