As New York City is opening back up, the Burkinabe community, on May 16, came out of its year-long hiatus caused by the coronavirus epidemic, for a cultural celebration and fundraiser at the Association of Burkinabe of New York headquarters in the Bronx.

The evening was the launch of this year’s cultural activities and the introduction of the brand-new Burkinabe Band of the Diaspora, to the community.

Several guests, including the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to the United States of America, H.E. Seydou Kaboré, the Permanent Representative to the United Nations H.E. At the opening of the celebration, H.E. Eric Tiaré awarded consulate officer Mrs. Marguerite Karama the Grand Commander of the Order of Merit for service rendered to the community.
