The 50th New York City Marathon took place on November 7, 2021, after a break in 2020 due to COVID 19. Without any surprise, Kenyans were ahead in both categories, men, and women, with Albert Korir, who ran the 26.2 miles in 2:08.03 and Peres Jepchirchir in 2:22.39. The second and third place for men went to Moroccan athlete Mohamed El Aaraby and Italian Eyob Faniel. Violet Cheptoo, the sister of Olympian Bernard Lagat, and Ababel Yeshaneh from Ethiopia, followed Jepchirchir. November 7 was a very good day for Africa.
