New letter implicates the NYPD and the FBI 56 years after Malcolm X’s assassination

56 years after Malcolm X was killed at the Audubon Ballroom in front of his wife and daughters, a letter written by undercover police officer Ray Wood brings new information and implicates the NYPD and the FBI in the assassination of the civil rights activist icon in February 1965 in Harlem, New York.

Reggie Wood, who promised his cousin Ray Wood to make the information public only after his death, delivered the letter to three of Malcolm’s daughters, Ilyasah Shabazz, Gamilah Shabazz and Qubilah Shabazz during a press conference held by civil rights attorney Ben Crump and co-counsels Ray Hamlin and Paul Napoli at the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Center in Washington Heights on February 20, 2021.

Ray Wood died on November 24, 2020.
