Bamako, Mali (PANA) – Malians on Tuesday paid a final tribute to the singer artist Fantani Touré, who was laid to rest in Bamako.
The body of Touré was repatriated from France on Monday night and her funeral was attended by mourners including President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and eminent persons from the world of culture and members of the diplomatic corps.
Touré, who died in Paris on 3 December, was buried in the cemetery of Magnambougou in Bamako.
Touré, considered one of the ambassadors of Malian music worldwide, was honoured with the National Order of Mali in 2010.
She also was winner of the UNESCO Peace Prize and an active member of the Federation of Malian artists (FEDAMA).
