Bamako, Mali (PANA) – King Mohamed VI of Morocco and Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Kéita launched on Friday work for the construction of a private hospital in Sébènicoro, on the west side of Bamako, to be financed by the Moroccan Foundation for Sustainable Development.
Estimated at some 3.52 billion CFAF, the hospital complex, which would be completed in 18 months, would be equipped with a high-tech technical equipment.
It is to fight against maternal, neonatal and infant mortality in Mali and handle risky pregnancy identification activities and advanced health care in obstetrics.
It will also ensure medical and paramedical training and research on emergency obstetrical and neonatal care.
The hospital will have 74 beds, including 44 for ordinary hospitalization, 18 beds for intensive obstetrical care and 12 beds for intensive neonatal care.
King Mohamed VI also symbolically granted 5,200 doses of seed and insemination kits to the Malian Ministry of Livestock Farming for the development of the sector.
Earlier on Friday afternoon, King Mohamed VI and President Keita attended prayers at the Big Mosque of Bamako.
