Lt. Governor Brian Benjamin officially endorsed Democratic State Senate nominee Cordell Cleare during a rally held at the Statue of Harriet Tubman in Harlem on October 14, 2021.

Hazel Dukes, the President of the NAACP New York State Conference who attended the rally, also threw her support behind Cordell Cleare, who was praised for her longtime commitment to the Harlem community.

If elected, Cordell Cleare will be the second woman to hold this seat, following Constance Baker Motley, who served 60 years ago.

Harlemites living in New York’s 30th State Senate District will vote on November 2 to fill Brian Benjamin’s vacated seat.

Early elections will begin on October 23, 2021, until October 31, 2021.
