Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement, Inc. (HCCI), held for the first time in two years its 19th Annual “Let Us Break Bread Together” Awards in person, on May 5, 2022, at Marina Del Rey in the Bronx.
The gala, under the theme Resilience, renewal & revitalization: building beyond today, celebrated the work of HCCI and honored: Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, Senior Pastor of The Abyssinian Baptist Church; Mr. Malik Yoba – actor, developer, and activist; Mr. Willie Walker a civic leader, and philanthropist; Mr. Olumide “Miday” Wilkey, Portfolio Manager at UBS Financial Services, Inc.; Ms. Melba Wilson – restaurateur and author; and Union Baptist Church, a founding member congregation of HCCI.
The nonprofit organization committed to the holistic revitalization of Harlem granted scholarships to Rahmel Evans, Brillo Ervin-Austin, and Phoebe Flowers during the gala hosted by Karen Murray and Curtis Archer.
New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Assembly member Inez E. Dickens were among the officials who attended the event.
New York’s Jazzy R&B duo Acute Inflections and Alexis Morrast entertained the guests.
