Accra, Ghana (PANA) – The designer of Ghana’s national flag, Theodosia Salome Okoh, is dead, according to family sources.

She died on Sunday in Tema, about 25km east of Accra, the Ghanaian capital, aged 92.

Okoh was honoured for designing the Ghanaian flag, red, gold and green with a black star in the middle of the gold, in 1957 when Ghana achieved independence from Britain.

She was also known for her interest in sports, especially hockey. The national hockey park in Accra has been named after her.
