“466/64 Fashion,” a brand rooted in Africa and inspired by the iconic legacy of Nelson Mandela had its official U.S. launching on July 14, on Nelson Mandela International Day, at the South African Consulate in Manhattan.

South African multi-platinum vocalist Lira and international supermodel Sam Sarpong were present at the event wearing pieces from the 466/64 collection, which includes womenswear, men’s sweaters, T-shirts, polo shirts and sneakers.

Members of the media got an exclusive preview of the fashion line, which is available online now and in stores in 2013.

466 was Mandela’s prisoner’s number and 64 is the year he was incarcerated on Robben Island, in South Africa. Seven to 9 percent of the proceeds are going back to 46664 South Africa, Mandela’s nonprofit organization fighting against HIV/AIDS. For more information, log on to 46664fashion.com.
