Hakeem Kuta, the 17-year-old teenager of Ghanaian descent who died on Saturday, two days after he fell off the roof of a six story building in the Bronx while being chased by the police, was laid to rest on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Forest Green Park Cemetery in New Jersey.

Family members and friends gathered at Masjid Ebun Abass on 141st Street and Alexander Avenue to pray for the young man that many described as a virtuous kid who often led payers at the Mosque where he was learning the Koran.

Surprisingly, according to a police statement Kuta was “with a group of teenagers who were smoking marijuana Thursday evening in the lobby of the apartment building” where the incident occurred.

Family members who find the statement difficult to believe are demanding answers.

A press conference is scheduled on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 11am at 2685 Valentine Avenue in the Bronx, the location where Hakim Kuta was seriously injured on Thursday.
