Kinshasa, DR Congo (PANA) – The civil society in Nyiragongo, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Thursday condemned the presence of Rwandan troops along the Morambi-Kibumba section of the Nyiragongo territory in North Kivu, eastern DRC.

Vice President of Nyiragongo’s civil society Antoine Ndagije alleged that the soldiers were there to track down the Rwandan Hutu elements belonging to the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) on the Congolese territory.

“Their presence has terrified the population of Nyiragongo,” said Mr. Ndagije, who has alerted the international community as well as the DRC’s Armed Forces.

Rwanda has yet to comment on the allegation.
