The Bronx Community Relief Effort, World Central Kitchen (WCK), RAP4BRONX, and The Bronx Private Industry Council powered by HERE to HERE, welcomed ACCRA Restaurant, a landmark African restaurant in The Bronx, to its group of local restaurants working as a collaborative network to bring fresh meals to thousands of Bronxites and sustain community restaurants facing economic peril due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

ACCRA Restaurant is now one of the eight Bronx restaurants preparing the meals distributed and keeping local workers safely employed. The other restaurants include Mott Haven Bar & Grill, Bronx Drafthouse, Bricks & Hops, Beatstro, Hudson Smokehouse, Glenroy’s Tavern, Bronx Tavern, and Seis Vecinos.

UNAC, RAP4BRONX, WCK, and staff from HERE to HERE are overseeing the delivery of the fresh meals prepared by ACCRA to 250 African families in the Bronx, 6 days a week as of Monday, May 4, 2020. Yankasa Association, USA located at 1707 Townsend Avenue, Bronx New York, 10453 will serve as the distribution site.

These local groups together currently distribute more than 20,000 meals and hundreds of grocery bags per day throughout the Bronx to more than 61 locations and groups, including emergency shelters, community-based organizations, workers performing essential frontline roles in healthcare and transportation, and residents living in public and subsidized housing. The team is working to scale up the volume of food distributed, with the goal of ultimately distributing up to 50,000 meals daily, with additional funding.
