Bujumbura, Burundi (PANA) – The Burundian government has warned that, after 10 January, 2014, all illegal houses and those built without due regards for the town planning regulations, will be demolished.

The warning was issued by the Water, Environment, Town and Country Planning Ministry, its third such warning.

Such warnings have not deterred rich and powerful people as well as property speculators in the society from building on the littoral areas of Lake Tanganyika bordering Bujumbura.

According to sources, the pollution created by such establishments and industries will impact negatively on the fisheries sector.
