Artists call for Black Friday boycott in solidarity with citizens of Ferguson

Blackout for Human Rights, a network of high profile artists is calling for a nationwide economic blackout on Black Friday, the shopping day after Thanksgiving, in solidarity with the citizens of Ferguson.

The day of action is in response to the “staggering level of human rights violations against fellow Americans throughout the United States.”

Recently, a grand jury failed to indict police officer Darren Wilson for killing Michael Brown, a black unarmed teenager, on August 9, 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri, sparking protests nationwide.
