Africa’s line-up for Cape Town International Jazz Festival announced

Organizers of Africa’s biggest jazz festival on Wednesday announced a glittering list of artists who are confirmed to perform next year.

The Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) is hosting the event for the 18th year between March 31, and April 1, 2017. The artists include contemporary jazz supergroup Jazz Funk Soul, guitarist Ernie Smith, Gretchen Parlato, Mandla Mlangeni, Laura Mvula, Judith Sephuma, The Rudimentals, Manu Dibango, Moreira Chonguica and Ranjit Barot.

Affectionately referred to as “Africa’s Grandest Gathering”, the festival is the largest music event in sub-Saharan Africa and annually boasts five stages with more than 40 artists performing over two nights.

The programming is made up of a 50/50 split between South African artists and international artists respectively. The festival hosts more than 37,000 spectators.
