Africa’s a top priority in New York during Africa Week

The African Union’s New Partnership for Africa’s Development Agency (NEPAD), along with the Office of the UN Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) hosted a series of events in New York City in honor of “Africa Week,” held from Oct. 15 to Oct. 19, 2012.

The organizations launched three publications on Oct. 16: “Africa’s Decade of Change,” “Assessing Progress in Africa toward the MDGs 2012”and “2012 Mutual Review of Development Effectiveness (MRDE).”

The launching was followed by a press conference with Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki, NEPAD CEO and the USG Maged Abdelaziz, the UN Secretary-General’s adviser on Africa.

During Africa Week, the NEPAD also hosted its second public lecture on the theme: “Regional Infrastructure as Catalyst for Sustaining Africa’s Growth and Development”. The event took place on Oct. 18 at the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
