African scholar Boukary Sawadogo gives book talk on African Cinema

Boukary Sawadogo, Ph.D., Professor of Cinema Studies at City College, hosted a book talk titled, “West African Screen Media: Comedy, TV Series, and Transnationalization” on January 30, 2020 at the NYU Center for the study of Africa and the African Diaspora.

Sawadogo who did his PHD on African cinema, published three books on the subject: “Les Cinemas Francophones Ouest-Africains” in 2013; African Film Studies: An Introduction in 2018 and West African Screen Media in May 2019.

His latest book covers African popular genre films, comedy, afro-futurism, western and TV series.
